Quirky hotel, friendly porter, the beautiful grounds that are perfect for exploring St Cuthbert's Chapel, especially enchanting during the evening.

The room featured ample space for movement, ensuring comfort for those needing disability access. A solid heating system kept the room warm throughout my stay, making it cozy despite the chill outside.

The shower area had a slow drain, leading to water pooling after use, which was a hassle. Although a hair dryer wasn't necessary for me, its absence could be a concern for others. While the continental breakfast provided sufficient options, having the capacity to cook heartier items like bacon or sausage wraps felt like a missed opportunity.

Exploring the 500 acres of stunning grounds and wandering through the historic chapels added a significant charm to our stay. The friendly staff shared fascinating stories that enriched our experience.

Significant issues with room heat and wall insulation!!! The entrance experience was frustrating with no one on-site to assist, and the doorbell was broken!!!

Oh, where to begin? the shower head was an absolute disgrace, constantly moving, making huge puddles. And don’t get me started on the early check-out. with the barrier down, it was like a bad joke. It’s a pity I didn’t receive a complimentary gesture for all this discomfort. I almost thought to commend them, but I just couldn’t.

The staff were amazing and friendly, explaining everything on arrival. The site is beautifully historic, with stunning chapels. The breakfast was excellent, offering plenty of options. The grounds are perfect for relaxing walks, and there’s a bus stop to the city just a short walk away. 😊

I was truly amazed by the stunning architecture and charming gardens. wandering through the space felt like stepping back in time. The breakfast was quite satisfying, offering a range of options suitable for various diets. My room was clean and inviting, perfect for a restful stay, but I wished there were more healthy choices available. Overall, I had a delightful experience and can't wait to return!

staying at ushaw historic house, chapels & gardens was truly enjoyable. we loved being able to explore the beautiful chapels at our own pace, snapping photos without any restrictions. the continental breakfast was just right, and we particularly appreciated the complimentary latte coffee. the staff were friendly and helpful, and we got a great meal recommendation too!
